“It could be worse”

Why the HECK do people say this?!

Ok, ok…I get it. Things could be worse. Let me explain.

We took an impromptu trip to Albuquerque, NM this past weekend to meet up with family. And by family, I don’t mean blood relatives. This happens to be a special case where I met some fantastic people in the most bizarre ways but KNEW they were instantly family. People that came into our lives for a reason and will be in our lives for a very long time to come.

I couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing weekend filled with love, laughter, meditation,  delicious food, shared stories, & much needed energy healing.

Then came Tuesday…back to the grind of my 9-5 as we say. I mentioned to a co-worker that I wish every day came along with the freedom and love that we felt in every moment in the past 4 days. My silver lining is that I work for a great company with co-workers I truly adore. (This positive thinking thing REALLY works by the way)…her response was “Yeah, it could be worse”.

NO (well yes)!!!! I refuse to settle, I refuse to surrender. Why even focus on anything that is already below the rung of the ladder I am standing on?

Let’s change “it could be worse” to “it’s going to be so much greater”…starting NOW.

Could things really be worse? Yes! Of course they could, but only if I am feeding my energy in the wrong direction. Only if I allow the negativity to control my life by focusing on what I don’t want. Only if I allow the fear of failure control me, my thoughts, and my actions.

What does that even mean?! Here’s how I see it…

Our energy is a gift. Would you give a gift to someone that was negative all the time and made you feel bad about yourself?! (the answer is NO). So why would I put my energy into thinking about things that make me feel bad. There are far more positive aspects of my job than negative ones. Something keeps me coming back on a regular basis. This job has brought people into my life that would never have crossed my path if I hadn’t accepted the job offer. Is working on flooring projects for government contracts in an office with florescent lights that wreak havoc on my skin tone, has a dress code that involves having to wear pants, and keeps me confined to a padded cubicle my dream….HECK NO!

Silver lining: My cubicle is colorful and cheerful…a vision board of my desires. I have made some of the greatest friends that have inspired me to work toward my dream, remind me to dream big, encourage the development of my gift of intuition, and remind me that I don’t fit in the “Norm”. Because of the energy they give me, I remain a Free Spirit in the corporate world until my time comes to break free. My “job” here is not confined by emails and carpet samples…my real job is to remain a positive, bright light for those around me ..and I don’t mean the same florescent bulbs that hum above their cubicles. My light illuminates their path until they shine bright on their own. My job here is not yet complete, but we are all certainly making long strides in the positive direction.

I challenge you to find the silver lining, live above the stagnant vibration of “the norm” and the timeline of birth, education, career, retirement, transition.

Start living YOUR life now. Why wait? What are you waiting for? To retire? Until you have an expiration date and it’s your last chance?

Do what you love and love what you do. Learn things you WANT to learn. Follow your heart. Find your passion. Shake free from the FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real).

Yes, it could be worse…but it could also be MAGNIFICENT!
