Down with the Ego!

I wonder why I still let little, insignificant things bother me now and again! Even though at the time it seems it is necessary to voice my opinion to prove a point! But 10-15 mins later, when I can remove the gloom cloud from my face and see the rainbow, the scenario leaves me feeling momentarily embarrassed because I know I am better than THE EGO!

I know I am stronger than the Ego that attempts to keep me tethered to the drama and suppress my cheerful disposition. But once in a while, it grabs a hold of my ankle and tries to pull me down. For the brief moment, when my adrenaline is pumping and my head is foggy, it succeeds. But the true test is how quickly I can shake it off and protect myself from the emotions of annoyance, embarrassment, pride…and any other emotion on the grey-scale.

“If at first you don’t succeed, Dust yourself off and try again” – Aaliyah

When we have these temporary (key word TEMPORARY) slips, it is important to reflect on how far we’ve come up on the Ladder of Enlightenment! In comparison, the minor annoyance is completely insignificant.

Be the warrior that can battle the EGO, but more importantly be the hero that can apologize when you have your “DOH!” moment. Remove your pride from the shelf and surrender it to the person that received the lashing.  Take the high road and apologize to them and YOU for allowing yourself to react to Ego.

We have the PoWeR to react to any situation. No one can “make” us feel anything. We FEEL because we are reacting. So choose the feelings that keep your vibration high and your smile obnoxiously big and cheesy! This was a lesson I needed to learn. Stop placing the blame on others for the the way you feel and stop OVERreacting. We are only victims if we choose to be victims.

If someone tries to rain on your parade, carry an umbrella! Shield yourself from the negative forces that try to dull your light.

“Let your smile change the world, don’t let the world change your smile”
